No more Aqua rants

It has come to my attention, thanks to Frank Manzo- who took the time to read my entire blog from end to end- that alot of my more recent posts have all been tirades against Aqua. So, on that note, with him being totally right- I can safely leave it at this: Promoters have been hired, they start in early May, it's 21+ and it's gonna rock.

In other news....

DJ'ing wise- I will be doing a gig at Lundy's in Sheepshead Bay (yes- they're clearing out the tables and doing the club thing on Friday nights in the summer) and getting paid a grand for 4 hours. According to the girl at KTU who is handling booking me, the guys doing the club have a lot of money to throw around and no idea where to spend it first. So I guess ultimately I am benefitting off of the ignorance of others. Fine by me.

So now I'm sitting in the conference room, apparantly at 5:20 pm my moronic boss has decided it's time to have a staff meeting now. I fucking hate him. He just came in here and says to me "anytime anyone from a carrier calls, knock my door down- I've been trying to get this girl on the phone for 3 weeks....when did she call? So I say "when you were in your meeting and said to hold all your calls". Stupid jerk. Gotcha there. Trying to make me look stupid. I'm not your fucking secretary.

Ok enough negativity.

I'm all moved into the new apartment. It rocks! Finally I can come and go as I please, and entertain guests (one in particular). I spent a lot on the furniture and new TV and stuff, and I'm happy. It's about 90% done. I just need stuff to hang on the walls, some picture frames, candles and some stuff for the bathroom. I'm having a little housewarming get together on Saturday with the crew- so that should be nice. Federico is coming home from Chicago for a week, so it will be good to see him. Gelo won't be there because he's a little bitch and has to go to Albany with his slut girlfriend (just kidding- she's awesome- we have been throwing the word slut around for about 8 years now). So finally I get to be an adult a little bit.

Life is pretty good

Brush With Death

I don't like spiders. Never did. I'm not "afraid" of spiders, per se, but I guess it's human nature to get freaked out when a spider is crawling on you and you can't see it....

While driving...

Tuesday night we had left Applebee's (surprise) to go find someplace else to have dessert. I guess the allure of the berry lemon cheesecake or the sizzlin' apple pie was not enough to satisfy the crew (although I would have been perfectly content with the oreo shake- which I have yet to try). So we decided to drive over to Perking Latte on the ass end of the north shore. So Gelo and I are driving on Forest Hill Rd, with oncoming traffic in the opposite lane and the woods on either side of us. Suddenly a big, black spider with all eight legs dangling within an inch of my face appears. So naturally I flinch, and the spider blows backwards on its little string of web and lands RIGHT ON ME. Where, I don't know. So, reflexes take over once again, and without even thinking I let go of the wheel to brush the spider off of me (even though I had no idea where it had landed) causing the car to swerve dangerously out of control. Gelo grabs the wheel to avoid a tree that we were headed right for which lands us fishtailing into oncoming traffic. After another swerve towards the woods, I finally managed to regain control of the car. I drove up far enough to where I could pull over, where I then jumped out of the car in a desperate attempt to get the mystery spider off of me. I sat there and laughed, and I guess it really didn't sink in until a few minutes after when I was like "YO WE ALMOST DIED!". It was pretty scary. I'm sure if Gelo and I had died in a fiery car crash the spider would have crawled out of the flaming wreckage unharmed.

So in the meantime I get to continue being alive, and thank God for that.

Another Day Another Dollar

So here I am again from the DJ booth at Aqua. All during the week, while I do nothing at work, I try my best to remember to write in my blog, but I always wind up having to do something super important, like send an email or sift through a pile of papers. But at Aqua I have a full 8 hours to do nothing while a pre-mixed CD plays for 8 hours to a room of 9 people. Seriously- this Friday night shit has to end. If he doesn’t move to get a promoter like now, I’m going to ask if I can do some Saturdays, where there is a crowd. In this week’s hilarity, the crazy obnoxious man who always asks me to play his Christina Aguilera and Missy Elliot CD has come in with a tambourine, where he is now wandering around the club…waving it…constantly…for the past 45 minutes that I’ve been writing this off and on. I want to go home. Otherwise, things are going okay. I have finally started to purchase things for the new apartment, which I will hopefully be living in full time by next week. I got a great deal on a used black leather couch from some woman on Craigslist- who sold it to me for 85$. I paid more to get the U-Haul to pick it up in than I did for the couch itself. I also bought a TV at Best Buy with Gelo last night. I wound up getting the same one that Jay has, as it was on sale for $450 from $579. I’m becoming quite the bargain hunter in my old age. Tomorrow I will probably try to convince Dad to help me take some of the heavy shit out of the basement and into the apartment. Sunday I’m going to IKEA to buy the coffee table, end tables and bookshelf to accommodate all my 12” records (no more milk crates lining the walls!). Finally I will have a place to call my own (somewhat) and I’ll get a break from the continuing overbearence of the parents, a much deserved break. I’ve been working out with James like crazy- as well as starting to do cardio again (ugh) and taking some cool new supplements that will help me pack on a couple of pounds of muscle hopefully. Work is eh. Tara is gone, and today Cheryl told us she’s leaving, as she got a great job over at Ericsson. Now that she’s gone, it’s just me, Ross and the new girl that starts on Monday (who I can already tell I don’t like). I really think the ball is gonna drop over at Diggit sometime soon. When Bill finds out he’s losing Cheryl, I wouldn’t be surprised if that expediates the process. He’s becoming more unhinged as the weeks go by, and the mere sight of him is enough to incite major eye rolling. I think he’s starting to realize just how much he’s losing his grip on this sinking mobile endevour. I wonder if Hosh sees it. I should probably tell him. He’s too busy doing 50 million different things anyway, leaving me plenty of time to sit online and browse through MySpace- probably the most addicting website I’ve ever been to. More on that later. I’ve been stressing a little bit about money lately- as my bank account has dwindled considerably and my spending has become extravagant- between the new apartment, the personal trainer, etc… Hopefully once my tax check comes (god damn me for not e-filing it) it will alleviate some of the problem. Let’s see…other important things in my life. Oh- so Jay is good. I love him more and more every time I see him- even though he drives me up the wall sometimes. PJ was home from Iraq for 2 weeks, so it was nice to see him still safe and healthy- and he says he will be home for good before Christmastime, which is really nice. My mother started taking anti-depressants last week (because I’m gay, etc…) so hopefully the Wellbutrin will bring us some chemical relief from her emotionally-charged antics. So besides the fear that the shoe will drop on my job and, therefore, my income, things are going good.

It’s finally getting warm out (although it was cold today) and I’m looking forward to the summertime.

I officially hate the sound of a tambourine.

Albanian Night

Tonight’s entry comes to you from the DJ booth at Club Aqua at 2:25 AM. Strange place to be writing on my laptop, isn’t it? Well I decided in my infinite wisdom that in order to kill the boredom that is quickly becoming DJ’ing at this club, I would bring my laptop to keep me company. Good idea. So tonight Phil informed me that there was going to be some sort of “benefit” for a girl that got her leg chopped off or something and it would be taking place upstairs but would most likely spill into the downstairs main room. What I didn’t find out until I got to the club was that the “couple of hundred or so” people that Phil told me about were a bunch of drunken off the boat ALBANIANS. Bad news. Long story short, the night quickly disintegrated into a mess of broken headphones, a near brawl and some authentic Albanian jams. Needless to say, this will probably go down in history as one of the worst gigs ever. When I’m a big and famous DJ and an interviewer sits me down and asks me “what was one of the absolute worst gigs you’ve ever encountered?”, I will quickly respond “Albanian night at Aqua”. So basically they cleared the club out and now I’m playing “Brush Ya Shoulders Off” to 3 people. Well, on the bright side, there’s only one way to go but up from here, because I think tonight we just hit rock bottom. No fun.
