Bullet Points

So once in a while I like to divert from my usual posts about random bullshit and just talk a little bit about what's going on in my life. I like those sort of posts because a year from now I can look back and see what my state of mind was at this point in time.

So where are we at?

It's the Wednesday before Labor Day. Bill is out of town this week (thank God) and I am seriously considering a job change. As much as love this lazy occupation, Bill is going to be shutting down one of the apps that I'm in charge of, leaving me in the lurch. He assured me that I still have a job here and that theres "plenty of other stuff to be done". But who knows. I'm gonna start looking. As much as I love/hate this place, I think my days are numbered.

What else what else what else.

I love my apartment. Things are going great with that whole situation. Life is good and Jay and I are very good to each other, and everything is in as good a balance as it can be (I cook, he cleans the dishes, etc..).

My parents live in Long Island now. That sort of sucks, but more than anything I'm just happy that they're happy with the new house and being out of Staten Island. I sort of miss the old house and the routine of everyone living together in the same house, but on the same note I'm over it. I think more than anything its just a knee jerk reaction to miss something that you can't have anymore. Though I do hope to get out to LI to visit my parents often enough. It's tough with my weekends being busy with DJ'ing.

Tom is now a college student, which is scary. I went up to Fordham this past Sunday to see him move into his dorm (same dorm I lived in freshman year). I am very happy for him, and I'm sure he'll do well. I am already plotting to go and visit him and stay overnight and act like a jackass like I did six years ago when I was a freshman.

I haven't seen my friends too much lately, mainly because my weekends have been so tied up, but I do miss them and I hope to see them all more in September.

The summer is almost over. The weather held up pretty good the entire summer up until last week, when it turned chilly and cold for some reason, and it's been that way for what seems like the past 2 weeks straight. Originally it looked like Labor Day weekend was going to be good weather, but now of course, Saturday is supposed to be soaking rains all day. Good times.

More to come...

TV Graveyard

If you were around in the spring of 1980, which I was not (unless you're one of those lefty pro lifers that considers a fetus a human- haha), chances are you were NOT at home on a Friday night watching NBC. Check out this TV retro crapfest-

Soo..jumping right into the deep end of the with "Here's Boomer"- A loveable pup that will jump over objects, amaze humans and find his way into your heart. Uh huh. After six episodes of this bullshit, the network execs realized they had a better chance of heartworms finding their way into loveable little Boomer's heart than finding an audience for this.

Next, NEW SERIES! The Facts Of Life. They obviously weren't ashamed to scream "SPIN OFF!" by annoucing Mrs. Garrett as "from Diff'rent Strokes". As is anyone would actually take note and watch the show for the sole reason of Charlotte Rae's stunning rendition of the Drummonds' maid. Personally, I was more a fan of Pearl, the old white haired broad who secretly hated blacks and fueled Dana Plato's early cocaine addiction. I should note that this was the first season of the Facts Of Life- before Nancy McKeon kidnapped, raped and murdered little "Molly"- replacing her character as Jo- Eastland's favorite Dyke on a Bike.

Rounding out Friday night we have "Pink Lady", what appears to be a variety show long after the shelf date of variety shows expired. However it was nice to see the Donny Osmond was still getting work in 1980 sans Marie. And who can resist the soulful stylings of Teddy Pendergrass AND Dallas' Larry Hagman all in one episode. Not me, that's for sure. And those Spandex clad sluts just seal the deal. This one should have made it.

Who would have thought that of these three shows, that well into 1989 we'd still be subject to Mindy Cohn's fat ass on a weekly basis.

And that, my friends, is all.

Wildwood Days

It's been a couple of years since I've been down the shore to Wildwood. Starting back in '97 or so, I was there every summer with the fam, usually for a week in July and a week in August. Then I grew up and became an adult, so the trips died down. I think the last time I was down there was maybe in 2002. Anyways, it was nice to be down there again. Tom and Anthony went with me, and we stayed at the retro 50's (not built in the 50's, unlike most of the lodging down there) Starlux hotel. I rarely get to go anywhere, so it was nice to be away for the weekend and just relax on the beach and walk the entire length of the boardwalk about eight times. Here are some photo highlights...

7-11 ain't got shit on the Wawa

The Wildwood board of health doesn't visit the boardwalk very often. I'll give you $20 to drink the corn water. And yes, you're not imaginging things. That is cheese fries pizza!

The rides all lit up

This zombie creature must have been on clearance at the zombie creature store- we saw him on 5 different occasions on 3 different dark rides.

Day Off

Took the day off today after DJ'ing last night in Philly, and what a great day it was to be off. While the thermometer outside soared to 100 degrees, I sat in the apartment all day in my underwear, watched "Working Girl" (good movie- didn't think I'd be into it) and cleaned. My only buzzkill in the past 24 hours was getting a $200 speeding ticket on the way home from Philly last night. Good job asshole. This Friday, I'm off to Wildwood with Tom and my cousins for a little weekend getaway. It should be a good time. I will drive the speed limit on the Turnpike, I promise.

Waxing Nostalgic with Atari, Pac Man and Mr. Hooper from Sesame Street

I've been inspired lately, reading some of those celebrity gossip blogs (after all, what the hell else am I going to do all day at the office- work?!). So I'm going to start posting much more. I promise. I've also become obsessed with browsing You Tube for just about anything that comes to mind. For example, a search of "80's commercials" unearthed long forgotten memories of Nabisco's long discontinued Giggles cookies and Keebler Tato Skins. Unfuckingbelievable.
