Third Times' A Charm

I like scratch offs. If you know me, you know that. Surprisingly, I don't think I've ever really written much about them. But I do have a very genuine love/hate relationships with these little fuckers. Nothing makes me happier than occasionally wasting a couple of bucks on those magical little pieces of paper that, behind the thin coat of silvery coating may hold the key to a fortune of riches and wealth beyond my wildest dreams. Usually, more times than not, they're either losers or a 2$ winner.

I could probably write a book about all the different ponders I've had over the years on all different sorts of tickets that have come and gone. There has, however, always been one mainstay in my little repetoire of vice, and that is the "Cashword" game. Although different varients of the game have appeared over the years (from "Cashword Doubler" to the abysmal "Make-A-Cashword" to the high rolling $5 "Double Triple Cashword"), none have had the lasting power of the original 2$ game. No matter which tickets or how much worth I'm buying, there will always be at LEAST one 2$ Cashword in the mix.

Truth be told, Cashwords are usually not kind to me. Sometimes I think the only reason that I play them is because I genuinely enjoy trying to spell out the words and not just randomly trying to get three like symbols or dollar amounts. It's fun, it wastes 5 minutes and I've just grown accustomed to always buying them.

Now somebody tell me how is it that in a 6 day span, 3 of which I purchased scratch offs- I've managed to hit $50 Cashword winners all 3 days. We're talking about the same ticket that I can literally go a month playing and not win back 2$. And now $150 in three weeks, from three different lotto retailers, on three different days?!

Go figure. And no, I will not cash this one out and buy $50 more worth of scratch offs. I am far from that much of a degenerate. Maybe just $10. We'll see...
