Goodbye Sweet Friend

Today we say goodbye to a good, sweet friend.

To the 5 lbs of chocolate marshmallow fudge I made in the week before Christmas, it is now time to say goodbye.

You were fun at first. I knew I made too much of you, but since it was the holidays and I was hell-bent on gorging myself on foods I don't normally gorge myself on (unless its Saturday at 3 am), I threw caution to the wind as I lovingly created you out of sugar, butter, chocolate and marshmallows. I enjoyed how you made me feel everytime I entered the kitchen, practically begging me to take a piece of you.

After New Years, things changed. The holiday merriment was suddenly replaced with the overwhelming dread of unemployment, the realization of the sad physical condition of my body and the packing away of all things Christmas. There you say, plastic wrapped, on top the refrigerator, hoping that perhaps company would come along and you would be the center of attention of dessert.

Unfortunately, it was not meant to be. So today, we say goodbye to 3 lbs of you. The other 2 lbs I pretty much ate on my own.

Until next year...
